Red Sun Rising can be best described as an aggressive alternative style rock band with a gritty hard rock edge and a hint of grunge. If you listen very closely you are sure to find a bit of southern rock ever so slightly woven into the mix. Despite the wide range of influences behind the group, these guys certainly have their very own unique style and sound. And their “doing it our way” approach is surely one to be admired. Hailing from Akron, OH and operating independently, Red Sun Rising has been sweeping the nation building a larger fan base with every city and town they play.
Recently, Red Sun Rising made a spectacular appearance at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, OH as a supporting act on the Pop Evil “Onyx” tour. They delivered an extremely impressive, high energy performance with powerful vocals backed by aggressive guitar riffs and chest thumping drum beats. They have a very dynamic stage presence, delivering each tune with incredible intensity and a tremendous amount of enthusiasm; equally match by the roars and cheers coming from the floor.
Operating independent of any record label the band relies heavily on social media and word of mouth to get their music out to the masses. Red Sun Rising is a band that has taken a new modern approach to marketing themselves, often making their music available for free on the internet. The idea being that if people like their music, they will come out and support them in other ways, by coming to a show and/or buying their merchandise. And from the looks of it, they should be very proud of what they have accomplished thus far.
Following the “Onyx” Tour, Red Sun Rising will be making appearances at several music festivals across the US including “Welcome to Rockville” in Jacksonville, FL this April and “Rock on the Range” in Columbus, OH this May. This is one set the hard rocking festival fans are not going to want to miss. These guys truly deserve all the support they get and it is all but certain that they will get it.
Red Sun Rising has so far released two full length recordings, the first self title “Red Sun Rising” and in addition to the festival performances will be touring heavily through 2015 in support of their second release “Making of Kings”. Where ever you are, you can be sure these guys will be bringing it in 2015, don’t miss it, they do not disappoint.
